Christmas comes to the Sheldonian Theatre

posted on Thursday 1 December

Advent started with us welcoming the Inter-Collegiate Christian Union with their student carol service, the Theatre rang out with 600 voices singing the traditional and well-loved carols.

The celebration of the festive season will continue on the 1st December with Haydn’s Creation performed by the Oxford University Chorus, followed by a Traditional Carol Concert with the City of Oxford Orchestra on Sunday 11th December at 7pm.

The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra will take over on the 15 December when they team up with the choir of New College to perform Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. We end our celebration in fine style with Carols for All performed by the renowned Oxford Bach Choir; always a favourite this family concert will leave everyone infused with the festive spirit.

From Christmas drinks reception to concerts; if you are wanting to host your own event at the theatre please contact us to discuss your requirements.
