First of all we welcomed guests to the Examination Schools – one of the University’s largest venues, located in the heart of the city. Treated to coffee and pastries, they heard about the history of the venue including how it was used as a military hospital during World Wars I and II. Led around the grand rooms, guests learned about the versatility of this large venue space – it is suitable for a wide variety of events including large conferences, day meetings, dinners, drinks receptions, festivals and much more.

We then took guests a short way to Headington to visit one of our newest venues, Osler House. Ideal for day meetings, parties and weddings, Osler house is a fine art deco building set in its own landscaped gardens. It offers a blank canvas – a variety of catering and drinks menus and the combination of indoor and outdoor space mean clients can build a bespoke event to complement their company’s values, or a party that shows off their tastes and personality.

Next stop was the spectacular Sheldonian Theatre, where guests were whisked up to the attic and cupola at the top of the building and enjoyed a glass of fizz and wonderful panoramic views of the Oxford skyline – a real photo opportunity! They also learnt about the history of this venue which is nearly 350 years old. A delicious lunch was then served downstairs in the exquisite surroundings of the main theatre with a beetroot, melon and goats cheese starter followed by a pork belly main.

We told guests about our exciting new offer – a choice of three dining experiences available at the Sheldonian Theatre. These include standing or seated buffet dinners, three course seated dinners and a sophisticated ‘East meets West’ street food concept. Guests who choose the seated dinner option can also opt for a ‘Live Theatre’ experience where they are treated to having an open kitchen in the theatre. Guests watch chefs craft their dish only meters away before it’s devoured and have the chance to talk to the chef about the inspiration for the food and where it comes from. We also explained about our recently launched Christmas party menu 2018.

The final stop was St Luke’s Chapel – a historic and cosy venue where guests were welcomed with dessert and tea and coffee to finish off a sumptuous meal. This beautiful building with its pre-Raphelite windows offers a welcoming feel for events like dinners, drinks receptions, meetings and exhibitions. Each guest was given an Oxford University Event Venues-branded cupcake on leaving to thank them for attending.
