What better way to quench your thirst than at the Gin Festival? Saturday 24 March 2018 marks the second Gin Festival at the Examination Schools, we caught up with event organiser Ollie Hooper to see what to expect for this year’s festival.

Can you tell us the story behind the Gin Festival?

The Gin Festival was originally set up on a whim by one of our directors, he came up with the idea, released our first date in Plymouth and the tickets sold out in 24 hours. We then extended the festival to other cities, getting bigger and better at each event.  We like to think we can convert anyone into a Gin Drinker!

Tell us about the Gins?

We have 102 Gins that we travel around with, we have a massive variety including spicy, floral, coconut, rhubarb, sloe, and even one that tastes like Palma Violets.  They come from around the world from USA, to New Zealand and down to Cornwall and all the way up to Scotland.

Why a Gin Festival in Oxford?

We really wanted to come back to Oxford and the Examination Schools as the reception and feedback we received last year was so nice. We couldn’t not come back!

What can guests expect at the Examination Schools?

A huge variety of Gin, a variety of premium mixers, samples, opportunity to talk to producers and brand representatives, you can purchase bottles of your favourite gin to take home, attend talks, masterclasses and cocktail demonstrations throughout the session. We have a photo booth, live entertainment and lots of gin, all ingredients we think makes a great day or night out!
