While we missed the hustle and bustle of Oxford, the quiet streets of lockdown provided the perfect set and location for filmmakers. We always really enjoy supporting filming at OUEV, you may have spotted the Sheldonian Theatre and Examination Schools in a few recent series, including The Crown, The Discovery of Witches and His Dark Materials. While our venues are popular locations and backdrops for film productions, we also provide important space of cast and crew who are filming in the city centre.

Filming Endeavour at Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford, filming venueEarlier this year, the Examination Schools hosted 150 cast and crew who were filming nearby at Exeter College for an exciting new series with Apple TV. With 13 spaces of varying size, the Examination Schools is a central, yet private and secure, location for hosting wardrobe, hair, and makeup teams as well equipment storage, refreshment, and rest space.

OUEV has a lot of experience in hosting production crews. We have all the relevant health and safety measures in place and work closely with University Security Services to give confidence that everything runs smoothly and with discretion. Filming has been allowed to continue during the lockdown, and our trained teams were onsite throughout to ensure all the elements from our Six Step Guide for Safe Events were implemented, providing a clean, safe venue, ready with social distancing signage, pre-laid out room setups and much more.

If you are looking for a venue in Oxford city centre to either film in or as a space for cast and crew, we would love to hear from you. Contact us at venueenquiries@admin.ox.ac.uk.
