A European conference debut in Oxford

The European Coral Reef Symposium were looking for a large flexible venue space in the city centre to host their event. The Examination Schools fitted the bill. Its 14 meeting rooms provided ample space for a large 600 seater plenary, an abundance of break-out rooms and enough floor space to host a poster board display exhibition with no bottle necks! Extra social and catering space was created by hiring a marquee.

With so much of the world’s coral under threat from climate change, the organisers wanted to work with us to help reduce their conferences’ environmental impact. We monitored energy consumption throughout enabling the organisers to analyse and offset. No plastic bottles were used and a variety of flavoursome vegetarian menus were created.
