Green tourism ‘silver status’ for all our venues

We are very pleased to have been the first University of Oxford venues to be awarded Green Tourism and achieved at least silver status for all our venues.

As the world’s largest sustainable certification programme of its kind, Green Tourism partners with over 2000 eco-friendly accommodation providers, venues and attractions in the UK and abroad. It gives customers confidence that venues are committed to green issues and are working towards reducing their environmental impact.

Our first joint venue showcase

Friday 7 April. Examination Schools, Osler House, Sheldonian Theatre, St Luke's Chapel

On Tuesday 4 April we hosted our first Oxford University Event Venues showcase.. Sixteen guests from different companies, associations, agencies and departments joined us for a tour around four of our venues – the Examination Schools, St Luke’s Chapel, the Sheldonian Theatre and William Osler House.

For generations of undergraduates at the University of Oxford, the Examination Schools aren’t exactly associated with carefree fun; they are mostly just the place where they have to pass tests before getting their degrees. But this summer they’ll be given over to an altogether less elevated field of study – gin.
